Lightning over the Sutter Buttes

Lightning over the Sutter Buttes

On the evening of 6/3/09 I experienced a very turbulent thunderstorm in
Newcastle, CA.  I wanted to photograph the action so I looked for my camera!
Since my Canon XT Rebal is out of commission, I grabbed my Kodak Easy Share
M753 pocket digital camera and start taking one photo after the other towards
areas that were active in lightning.  I didn’t even check the photos until 3
days after because I was so tired I went to sleep after taking the photos and
I forgot about them until I started taking some new photos.  I couldn’t
believe that only one photo was a dud! I am glad to share then, hope you
enjoy them!

I have been an amateur photographer since I was 12. At that age,
I had my own black and white dark room.  Last year I actually sold some of my
photographs, so technically I am now a professional.  I use different digital
cameras but prefer to use SLR’s such as my Canon Rebel XT.

I have taken photographs of about anything, however my favorite photographs are nature such as
weather, clouds and animals. Recently I have been experimenting with macro photography
and digital effects using color keying / green screen.

In 2006, I evented the CamStand, a device for mounting a camera in close
proximity to the object being photographed. I am not afraid to experiment, I
realize that photography is a art and that since is an art, photographs are
subjective. I believe a good photograph is interesting, pleasing to the eye
and a great photograph makes you emotional just like a great painting or
great music. Great photos are rare!
